The second annual YearlyKos Convention is being held in Chicago August 2-5, 2007, and recently the Organizing Committee began planning for the podcasting and video blogging for the gathering of political bloggers, their readers, friends, and politicians. The convention being held at the McCormick Place Convention Center in downtown Chicago is considered the pre-eminent event for Netroots movement activists, bloggers from the left side of the blogosphere, and the politicians who wish to reach out to the Internet savvy group that has begun to sway elections.
We are working on an integrated plan to bring as much of the convention as possible to you right from your computer screen. Podcasting and vlogging will be a component of that experience. This, in addition to other plans, will make YKC 2007 a fully integrated online convention, possibly the first of its kind in the digital age.
We will soon begin production on the first part of our plan, the YearlyKos Update podcast hosted by FireDogLake.com blogger TRex. This show will be periodically syndicated between now and the convention on the YKC website and will feature updates on the planning for this year’s convention, interviews with past and future discussion panelists, and much more. When the convention is in session, TRex will host a video version of the show that will be updated several times a day from the convention site to give people news of what has been going on and to draw their attention to the freshest content.
The organizers and I hope you all are as excited about this as we are. This year we hope no one will miss anything that happens in the panel discussions, and hopefully you will get a better taste of what is happening in the halls of the convention center and at gatherings off the convention center floor as well.
